 MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9th

Teams Meeting: 

2:15 - 2:35 Check-in with Mme Marcoux


Mathématiques:

1) Find the page with cakes to divide. 

How can you divide a circular cake into pieces? (Hint: always go through the center)

How many different ways can you divide a rectangular cake into quarters?



Français:

1) Go to Je Lis! Read at least one book. You can even listen to the book read out loud!

2) In your French writing notebook, do some journal writing. Here is your topic:

Pourquoi est-il important d'apprendre au sujet du passé?


English Language Arts:

1) Do some independent reading and mark down the pages you read in your Reader's Workshop duotang.

2) Continue working on your biography. Work on finishing your rough draft. Please see the English Language Arts page on the blog for more instructions.


Sciences de la nature:

Keep working on researching invertebrate animals (les animaux invertébrés). Remember - you have to research two éponges, two vers and two mollusques. To make your choice easier, the research pages are colour-coded. All the éponges are on green paper, the vers are on pink paper and the mollusques are on orange paper. 

Choose two different animals in each category and start researching. You need to find out the habitat (where they live), diète (diet - what they eat), illustration (draw an illustration of the animal), deux faits intérerssants (two interesting facts)

2) Find your Listening & Viewing booklet and the page called Geri's Game. After watching the short film, fill in the chart. Who are the characters? (If they don't have names you could describe them: the boy with the yellow shirt) What is the setting? (where does it take place?) What is the main conflict? (What is the main problem) What is the most suspenseful moment? (Maybe none of it was suspenseful to you, but which part do you think the filmmakers were trying to make suspenseful?)

2) Find your Vraiment Top page. Click the link to find the video. Video Remember you can change the speed of the narration and add subtitles if you like. After watching the video, answer the questions on the page.

1) In your duotang, you have pages to research different groups of immigrants who came to Canada in the past. I sent you a photocopy of the page we completed together as a class - we read the information in the little booklet about Chinese immigrants and then we jotted down the important information on the page in the duotang. You should copy down the information in your duotang.

2) Then, pick a different group of immigrants in the little booklet. Read through the text and jot down the important information on the page in your duotang.

1) Complete the Qui est l'intrus? page. Remember how it works - find a reason for each option to be the one that doesn't belong with the others.

2) Find the page Ton opinion avec justifications! For each statement, write down your opinion supported by justifications.



English Language Arts:

1) Do some independent reading and mark down the pages you read in your Reader's Workshop duotang.

2) Continue working on your biography. Please see the English Language Arts page on the blog for more instructions.

3) Find the See Think Wonder page. Look carefully at the image (here it is in colour) and then write down your thoughts. 




Sciences de la nature:

1) Find the page called Les cinq règnes. On the first side you need to read the characteristic or example and check the kingdom it belongs to. Try to complete this without looking at your duotang! On the second side you need to classify the aliens into the right categories. Snap a photo of each side of your completed quiz and send it to Mme McKenzie at laura.mckenzie@sjasd.ca

1) On Monday you researched a group of immigrants and what their life was like in Canada. Today, pick a different group of immigrants in the little booklet. Read through the text and jot down the important information on the page in your duotang.

Mathématiques:

1) Find the page with all the fish bowls. Draw eight different representations where half of the fish are small. Write the fraction of small fish underneath the bowl. 



2) Did you try 1/2? 2/4? 5/10? 6/12?

3) These are equivalent fractions (fractions équivalentes) - fractions that are equal and represent the same thing.

4) Practice equivalent fractions with these games:
